LASIK eye surgery in Paschim Vihar, Delhi
LASIK is a laser procedure that reshapes the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye, to reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses for short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism. New Vision Eye Centre in Paschim Vihar provides LASIK after a full assessment under Dr Manik Mittal.
Who may be assessed for LASIK
Adults, usually 18 years or older, with a stable glasses power for at least a year
Healthy corneas of adequate thickness
No active eye infection or untreated eye disease
Some conditions, such as keratoconus, very thin corneas, severe dry eye, pregnancy or certain medical conditions, can make LASIK unsuitable. Other options such as PRK or ICL may then be discussed.
The assessment visit
Plan about two hours. Tests include a glasses-power check, a corneal map (topography), corneal thickness, pupil size, eye pressure, a dry-eye check and a dilated retina examination. Soft contact lens users are asked to stop wearing them for some days before the tests; we will tell you how long. Dilating drops blur near vision for a few hours, so please bring someone with you.
How LASIK works
After numbing drops, a thin corneal flap is created and lifted. The laser then reshapes the underlying cornea according to your measurements, and the flap is put back. The laser part takes only a short time for each eye. Eye drops are used for a few weeks afterwards.
Risks and side effects
LASIK is elective surgery and carries risks. Dry eyes are common for some weeks to months. Some people notice glare or haloes at night. Rarely, a retreatment is needed, or vision problems continue. Glasses may still be required for some tasks, and reading glasses are usually needed after the age of about 40. Your surgeon discusses these before you decide.
Charges
LASIK starts from ₹20,000 per eye. The final amount depends on your examination and the treatment planned. Contoura Vision, a topography-guided LASIK, starts from ₹27,500 per eye.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What is the minimum age for LASIK?
A: Usually 18 years, with a stable power. The surgeon confirms this at examination.
Q: Will I be able to drive and read the next day?
A: Many people see better the next day, but vision can fluctuate. Follow-up visits check progress.
Q: Can LASIK be done if my cornea is thin?
A: Not always. Corneal thickness is measured during the assessment, and alternatives may be advised.
Q: Does insurance cover LASIK?
A: Policies differ and many exclude vision correction. Our insurance team, 96251 54575, can check your policy.
