LASIK and Contoura Vision near Punjabi Bagh, Club Road and Shivaji Park
If you live in Punjabi Bagh, on Club Road or in Shivaji Park and wear glasses or contact lenses, you may want to know whether specs removal surgery is possible for you. This page explains how LASIK and Contoura Vision assessments work at New Vision Eye Centre, Paschim Vihar, a short distance from most of Punjabi Bagh. We have no branch there.
LASIK and Contoura Vision in plain terms
In LASIK, a thin flap is made on the cornea and a laser reshapes the tissue underneath to correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism. Contoura Vision is a topography-guided form of LASIK, in which the plan is based on a detailed map of the cornea. Neither is for everyone, and the decision is made after the tests.
Before you come
If you wear soft contact lenses, you will be asked to stop them for a period before tests, and the team will tell you how long
Bring your most recent glasses prescription and the one before it
Plan for dilating drops, which blur near vision for some hours
Tests at the assessment
The assessment usually includes glasses power, corneal mapping, corneal thickness, eye pressure and an examination of the retina. The results show whether LASIK, Contoura Vision, PRK or ICL may be considered, or whether surgery is not advised.
After the procedure
Eye drops are prescribed for some weeks, and follow-up visits are scheduled by the surgeon. Some people notice dryness, glare or haloes at night for a period. Every procedure has risks, and they are explained to you before you decide.
Options if LASIK is not advised
If the assessment shows that LASIK is not suitable, the doctor may discuss other routes. PRK is another laser procedure that works on the corneal surface. ICL places a lens inside the eye and is considered for some high glasses powers. Another option is to stay with glasses or contact lenses. Each has its own risks, and the choice is made together with you.
Charges
LASIK starts from ₹20,000 per eye and Contoura Vision from ₹27,500 per eye. The final charge depends on the assessment. ICL starts from ₹60,000 per eye. Questions about surgery can go to the Surgery Counsellor on 89296 30330.
