ICL eye surgery near Punjabi Bagh, Club Road and Rani Bagh
People in Punjabi Bagh and Rani Bagh with a high glasses power often hear about ICL, the implantable collamer lens, and wonder how the process actually runs. This page walks through the steps, from the first assessment to the follow-up years later. New Vision Eye Centre is in Paschim Vihar, with no branch in Punjabi Bagh, and Dr Manik Mittal advises on ICL only after examination.
What an ICL is
An ICL is a thin lens made of a biocompatible material that is placed inside the eye, just in front of the natural lens. It corrects short-sightedness and, in some designs, astigmatism. Unlike laser vision correction, no corneal tissue is removed. It is usually discussed when the glasses power is high or the cornea is not suitable for laser.
The path from first visit to surgery
Visit one: detailed glasses power, corneal mapping, eye pressure and a dilated retina examination
Further measurements of the space inside the front of the eye, which decide the size of the lens
A counselling talk in which the surgeon explains the findings and the risks
Lens ordering: the lens is made to your eye measurements, so a wait of some days is normal
Surgery day: each eye is done separately, usually a day or more apart
Follow-up: next-day check, then visits over the following weeks, then a yearly check-up
Planning around the waiting period
Because the lens is made to order, it is sensible to book the assessment well before any date that matters to you, such as a wedding, a job joining date or an exam. Do not plan surgery around a fixed deadline, since the sequence depends on test results and lens availability.
Risks you should hear about
ICL is an operation inside the eye. Possible risks include infection, a rise in eye pressure, cataract formation, a lens that sits in the wrong position and, rarely, the need to reposition or remove it. Some people notice glare or haloes at night. The surgeon explains these before you decide, and the yearly review is part of the commitment.
Charges
ICL starts from ₹60,000 per eye. The final charge depends on the lens power and type. Many insurance policies exclude vision correction, so please check with our Insurance and cashless team on 96251 54575 before you plan.
