A class of eye conditions known as glaucoma cause damage to the optic nerve, which is the nerve fiber bundle that transmits information from the eye to the brain and can result in blindness or visual loss. Another name for it is "Kala Motia." Optic nerve damage can happen with normal or even lower eye pressure than normal, however it frequently happens when there is high intraocular pressure (HIP). Patients who also have myopia, widely variable blood pressure, and diabetes may experience more severe damage from glaucoma. In Kirti Nagar, glaucoma is also referred to as "the silent thief of vision" since, initially, it may not cause any symptoms.
