One need fewer contacts and eyeglasses after LASIK surgery. The goal is not to achieve 20/20 vision again. Nonetheless, a lot of LASIK patients are able to achieve 20/20 vision. Some even manage to get 20/15 vision, or even better! During LASIK, a tiny laser incision is made across the cornea's surface by the surgeon. This produces a flap directly on top of the cornea's surface. They lift this flap after making the incision. The cornea is then reshaped with a second laser. By doing this, the cornea is better able to retract light along the retina, which is found in the rear of the eye. LASIK surgery has some shortcomings. Approximately two thirds of LASIK patients occasionally need to wear contacts or glasses.
